FAQ

We thought it might be helpful to compose a Frequently Asked Questions page regarding the Convention and other pertinent information. Just like the rest of the site, this page will continually be updated, so check back frequently!

Can I see the models without entering the contest?

The 2009 IPMS/USA National Convention will be open to the public. A single-day general admission ticket is $5.00, which permits entry to the convention, contest, and vendor rooms. A multi-day pass, good for 4 days for the event, is available for $10. You do not need to be a member of IPMS/USA to view the models.

Can I touch the models?

No, you may not touch the models. Many of these masterpiece works are very fragile, and represent significant expenditures of both time and money by their builders. We're sure you would feel awful should someone accidentally break a model.

Can I use a camera in the display room?

Yes, by all means, photography is encouraged... but do not leave your camera dangling around your neck, then bend over to inspect someone's miniature masterpiece. Each year, several models are broken by careless visitors whose cameras smash into the very models they are trying to admire.

What about Security?

Over the past few years, there have been incidents of theft from contests and we take these incidents very seriously. We are in the process of developing a plan for both personal and physical security of our guests and their belongings while attending the National Convention. Our goal is to balance safety and security with as little inconvenience as possible, and we trust our guests will understand and appreciate our efforts on their behalf.
